Meet The Chef
Chef/Owner Susan Filkin
From an early age I discovered a special talent and love for cooking while carefully watching and cooking alongside my Mother and Grandmother. After a successful career at an advertising agency in Chicago, I have enjoyed cooking for a large extended family and friends. Over the past twenty years, I have become an accomplished cook with a passion to provide healthy, delicious meals made with fresh, high quality ingredients. In 2011, I decided to turn this passion into a business. I take every opportunity to keep up with the latest cooking trends and enhance my cooking skills through culinary education. I have gained significant experience serving families with allergies, and catering to special diets such as Paleo, Dr. Furhman, Clean Eating, Vegan and Vegetarian.
North Shore Chef, LLC is a licensed, insured, “Serv-Safe” certified personal chef service and Chef Susan is a proud member of the American Association of Personal and Professional Chefs.

How it Works
After an initial consultation to assess your needs NSC will plan, shop, and prepare your customized meals on a weekly basis. We charge an hourly fee plus the cost of groceries.
Special Requests
North Shore Chef specializes in accommodating allergies or other dietary restrictions including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free.
Dinner Parties
North Shore Chef can help customize appetizers, cocktails, and a dinner menu for entertaining or special occasions
"Chef Susan Filkin of North Shore Chef has not only made our lives easier but has enriched them with delicious food. Additionally, she has navigated a seriously long list of food allergies. Our family has hectic schedules, and using Chef Susan’s services, we are able to spend more time enjoying each other’s company. Once a week, Chef Susan arrives with fresh groceries, cooks the meals, packages the food in the refrigerator, cleans the entire kitchen and leaves us with reheating instructions. I come home from work and open my refrigerator to magically see gleaming glass containers filled with a variety of dinners. The meals are scrumptious. Our favorites include rack of lamb with garlic and herbs with roasted sweet potatoes, chicken enchiladas and veal scallopini with brown butter and capers with roasted cauliflower. We never have to worry about the myriad of foods we cannot eat. We have been working with Chef Susan every week and we are a very lucky family to be her client."
